The Kollupitiya Police launched an investigation after a thief broke into the official residence of the Ambassador of Thailand at Flower Road in Colombo 7, police said.

They said the thief had reportedly stolen property and cash worth about Rs. 300,000 from the residence of Ambassador Poj Hanpol.

The robbery took place on Sunday between 2.00 am and 7.00 am and a complaint had been lodged with the police over the theft.

It was reported that a mobile phone, a souvenir, Thai currency and Sri Lankan Rupees were among the items and currency stolen.

The robbery reportedly took place even when a police officer was stationed outside the residence while another private security guard was inside the residence.

Police are yet to make any arrests.

Great news for the tourist industry. It was the Poya day. This is what a bankrupt corrupt country can offer. Soon it will be not safe to walk on the streets.

Islandwide robberies are reported in the recent past and these rogues are active between the wee hours of the morning. They are also conversant in making the surveillance equipment inoperative. The Police in the past sent their officials on Beat duty in the night/wee hours of the morning to ensure all areas where undesirables operate. Once again we earnestly request the Police to launch the Beat Duty which has proved successful in keeping our roads free

Our Police seem to be very effective in bludgeoning innocent demonstrators and not preventing crime.

So we can stop paying the police and security forces since they can’t even protect ambassador’s residence, next will be politicians’ houses

Our hearts go out to the honourable Ambassador. However, we have to say the this area is home to notable bank robbers.

We can believe, that the POLICE-ASSISTED ROBBERY must have taken place at the official residence of Thai ambassador.

Enforce proper patrolling by day and night. The sub inspectors / inspectors must go and check these patrols whether they are effective. The Senior Gazetted officers must supervervise. Most senior officers hardly visit Police stations in the nights. All the cops on duty with politicians are wasting their time. Most senior police officers are in the pockets on Narcotic lords, brothel owners and other illicit liquor dealers. Most of the priests are also cared for by corrupt dealers. Country is gone to dogs. The cops guarding politicos are soundly asleep in politicos houses in the night.

Doesn’t the place have CCTV FOOTAGE? One cop and a security guard and Money is certainly for the asking. More than money, documents too are important to be safeguarded.
