A discussion will be held at the Education Ministry today on opening schools next week, Education Ministry secretary Nihal Ranasingha said.
He said the discussion will be held among zonal and other responsible educational sector authorities this morning.
The main schools in Western province, suburbs and in other main cities were on mute last week due to issues relating to transport crisis triggered by fuel scarcity, the secretary said.
The surveys conducted last week regarding teachers and children's presence in schools and the progress of conducting teaching practices online will be taken into consideration during this discussion, he said.
The decision on opening schools next week will be made today, the secretary added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
