All train journeys, which commenced today during the ongoing strike, would also be ceased from tomorrow, the Locomotive Engine Operators’ Union (LEOU) today said.

LEOU Secretary Indika Dodangoda told the Daily Mirror that the work stoppage launched by the railway trade unions would be continued further in the absence of a reasonable solution from the authorities concerned.

“We have not been offered with a discussion yet. The sudden strike which was launched on Wednesday will be continued until our salary anomalies and other issues are resolved,” he said. (Kalathma Jayawardhane)

In the time of the present government, people can launch strike, people can protest, people can put forth their views/criticism, people can roam freely, etc. During the previous government, people could rarely do all these. Because, if they do, there is a white van waiting for them. Unfortunately, people are always ungrateful. They don't appreciate the measures the present government have taken. They also don't understand that the present government, while inheriting a huge economic crisis, still continue to do a lot of developmental works. The government also has been gradually increasing the salaries of employee of many sectors. People just don't understand that the government just can't fulfil their demands instantly and at the same time carry out huge developmental projects.

What a bunch of senseless bastards these train drivers are. They start a strike along with the AL exam and jeopardise the future of children. Bring Indian drivers and kick out these crooks.
