A COVID-19 patient suspected to have been infected with dreaded Indian variant known as Delta has been detected in Kittampahuwa, Wellampitiya, the Health officials said.
Area Public Health Inspector (PHI) told the Daily Mirror that the suspected patient, a 38 year old male, works for an apparel factory in Borella.
"We are currently in the process of identifying the contacts of the infected person. The person has tested positive subsequent to a PCR test done at the factory," he said.
He proceeded to say that measures are being taken to prevent the spreading of the virus from that area.
The Delta variant was first detected in the Dematagoda area and another patient was found in Kahathuduwa with similar infection.
In addition, a COVID-19 patient suspected to have been infected with Delta variant, was found in the Madiwela area. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
