One suspect has been arrested along with a pistol in connection with the shooting incident at the Kudawella Fisheries Harbour, where four people were killed and eight injured.
Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said the suspect, Rohitha Kumudu Kumara (33), a resident of Beliatta, was arrested by officers of the Tangalle crimes unit at his house on Saturday.
He said the police recovered a 9mm automatic pistol, 8 bullets and a magazine from the suspect possession.
SP Gunasekera said the suspect would be detained for further questioning after produced in the Tangalle Magistrate’s Court.
Two gunmen who had arrived on a motorcycle had opened fire at those inside the Kudawella Fisheries Harbour in Tangalle on December 25.(DS)
