A six-year-old boy had died this morning after being knockdown by a lorry in Badulla, Police said.
They said the boy was knocked down soon after the lorry started moving after refuelling from a fuel station near the Badulla Provincial Council Office.
The 63-year-old grandmother of the child also injured in the accident, they said.
The child was on his way to school for the first day after receiving admission for Grade one in a school in the area.
The child and the grandmother were knocked down while they were walking along the road that leads to the school, through the fuel station in Badulla.
The driver of the container was arrested by the Badulla Police for negligent driving.
The grandmother was hospitalised after sustaining serious injuries, the police added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

Now this irresponsible drivers never heard of punished in a manner that they learn the lesson. Politicians every talk about new constitution s , amendment to constitution and all bulk work. Never try to amend law to this kind if murderer. Mi two words. Government us responsible...!
