A 62-year-old man was wounded after two unidentified armed men on a motorcycle shot at him at the Batagoda area in Meegoda this morning, Police said.
The injured person was rushed to the Homagama Hospital with gunshot injuries following the incident.
According to preliminary investigations, the shooting has taken place soon after the victim, Darshana Samarawickrame, had left his residence in a car to take up the new position as the Chairman of the
Co-operative Insurance Company in Battaramulla.
Police further said operations are underway to apprehend the suspects who are still at large.
The motive for the shooting is yet to be ascertained while Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
