Sex maniac arrested for abusing several schoolchildren

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a suspect for sexual abuse of several school children in the Galle area.

Police said the CID initiated investigation based on tip off by a group of parents of the children studying in many schools in the Galle area, about a person, a sex maniac who sexually abused their children.

As such, the CID arrested a 44-year-old resident of Unawatuna.

It was brought to light that the children have been lured into sexual activities through WhatsApp.

Investigation also revealed that children from different parts of the country have been maliciously involved in this crime at different places.

Police said the suspect attracted the children under the guise of being a priest, running a famous temple.

He was remanded until August 23 after being produced in the Galle Magistrate's Court. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya )

The correct term is pedophile or pedo. Anyway, in other country pedo is even abused by other prisoner when in jail. Because it is so heinous behaviour. Did he pretend to be hindu/tamil priest?

This must be a 'frustrated sex starved' person and 'PRETENDING' to be, but not a priest?!! Person who has realised the advantage of a priestly 'ROBE'!! Why/How is the Tamil/Hindu temple considered, more "FAMOUS" than others? Not be the case?!!!

The SL president has his polictical experince, high reputation. After main president appointments, except in police, are done, president, prime minister are awating the decisions of their apontted servants for SL governmnet. Only few foreign nations undesrtand the importance of the SL in region. Politcs of Ukraine influences SL politics. Nevertheless, the SL recent protests demonstarte: SL native citizens do not undesrtand the importance of their memebership in an polictical party. The political parties enact law. The law is a public contract between the govermnet and the rest nationals and the tourists. There are insufficient efforts of Sri Lanka nationals to become a member of any political party, preferably with its ancient history. It is childhood to register the new polictical party in SL. The faster your fresh people become members of any political party, of police forces, attorney, the faster economical policy will be conducted in SL.

@Put them in prison I think the article is beating around the bush, with just the fact that the wicked man was pretending to be a religious somebody. Maybe we're tricked to imagine in only fit a hindu priest. Regardless, I agree about severe punishment. And there should be extra hard labour for pedophile and not for convict of freedom of expression like Ranjan.
