Seven suspects were arrested in connection with the clash at a hotel at Periyamulla in Negombo where a 36-year-old was hacked to death, Police said.

They said the clash occurred last night as the hotel owner and the employees tried to prevent some men who had tried to use liquor on Poya Day resulting in the owner and the employees being assaulted.

Police said three employees and the hotel owner were admitted to the Negombo Hospital while a 36-year-old hotel employee, a resident of Kekirawa, had died on admission to hospital.

An 18-year-old suspect was arrested this morning and six others were arrested when they surrendered to the Police through a lawyer.

They will be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

Politicians and their goons are behind these type of attack in order to create a racial issue and fear among the public and disturb the peace for political gain. The culprits identity is hidden, why is that? it is crystal clear of the inner feeling of such dirty politicians. Do not tolerate these guys, maximum punishment should be delivered.
