During the largest raid carried out in Sri Lanka to recover Elephant Pearls (Gajamuthu), the STF arrested a suspect in possession of 76 Elephant Pearls in Iginiyagala yesterday.
According to intelligence alert received by the STF at the Ampara camp, they arrested the suspect in possession of 76 such pearls.
The STF said this is the largest haul of pearls seized in the history and also the largest quantity of pearls seized from a single area.
The raid was conducted under the instructions of STF Commandant DIG Waruna Jayasundara.
The 67-year-old suspect from Ampara was handed over to the Iginiyagala Police Station for further investigations. (DSB)
