STF seizes over Rs 100 mn heroin in Kelaniya

One suspect had been arrested with over 10 kgs of heroin valued over Rs. 100 million at Wanawasala in Kelaniya this morning, the STF said.

They said the STF Intelligence Unit conducted the raid following a tip off and recovered 10.2 kgs of heroin and over 6 kgs of cannabis.

Investigations revealed that the narcotics had been smuggled into the country from Afghanistan.

“The suspect and the narcotics will be handed over to the Police Anti-Narcotics Bureau (PNB) for further investigations,” an officer said.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
