SL will respond aptly to allegations in UNHRC session: Keheliya

Sri Lanka will most probably take part in the February – March session of the UNHRC in virtual format and a discerning and overwhelming reply will be presented at the world body, highlighting Sri Lanka’s position on various allegations, Cabinet Spokesman, Mass Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said today.

Responding to a journalist at weekly Cabinet news briefing, he said as far as he was aware, the Foreign Minister was yet to select a team of delegates from Sri Lanka to participate in the UNHRC sessions.

Minister Rambukwella expressed his disappointment on the screening of alleged war time video footages by the UNHRC and said it was not in line with the UN mandate.(Sandun A Jayasekera)

How come UNHRC is silent for human rights violations of countries such as Egypt (for overthrowing a democratically elected Government and sentencing protestors to death) , Thailand (for overthrowing democratically elected Government and putting protestors in jail) , Saudi Arabia (killing innocent civilians in Yeman and USA ( for murder of innocent unarmed Afro Americans by Police but not taking any action against the police) but eternally taking actions against Sri Lanka where people of all races and religions live in harmony with no political prisoners.
