There is a distinct possibility that Sri Lanka would import the vaccine that is produced in India against COVID-19 virus, Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera said today while addressing the media.
“We have the assurance that the vaccines have been manufactured to the highest health and safety standards,” he said.
“Hence, those vaccines are more likely to be imported by Sri Lanka soon,” Dr. Samaraweera added.
Meanwhile, State Minister for COVID-19 disease control Sudarshani Fernandopulle earlier said Sri Lanka was holding talks with India to import the Oxford-AstraZeneca and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines to the country. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
