Whilst stating that no one in Samagi Jana Balwegaya would accept ministerial posts in the government which is to be formed by new Prime Minister Ranil Wickremeisnghe, Samagi Jana Balwegaya (SJB) today challenged the incumbent premier to show a majority in Parliament.
“No one from the SJB will accept ministerial port folios in the new government to be formed as the Prime Minister Wickremesinghe has no mandate to form a government.
We challenge him to show a majority of 113 seats in Parliament,” Mr. Madduma Bandara told a press conference.
“Only SLPP MPs have consented to take up ministerial posts in the new government,” he added.
“ We shall go ahead with the motion to denounce President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in the House next week and if that is approved by Parliament, Premier Wickremesinghe will also have to quit as it is also a similar to a no confidence motion against the government,” he also said.
MP Rajitha Senaratne alleged that buying over of MPs has begun. “Even I was offered money to join the government,” he alleged.
MP Eran Wickremeratne also alleged that an exercise has begun to woo MPs and to change the composition in Parliament. (Yohan Perera)
