The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will call for a debate on President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s special statement on Thursday where he came up with an economic road map, Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella said.
MP Kiriella told the Daily Mirror he will call for a debate on behalf of the party during the next parliamentary week itself.
“We will call for a debate on the President’s statement during the next parliamentary week which starts from 07 June 2023. We want to see that the debate takes place without further delay," Kiriella said.
President Ranil Wickremeisnghe addressed the nation on Thursday where he outlined a four-point economic road map for the country. These comprised fiscal and financial reforms, investment drive, social protection and governance and state owned enterprise reformation. (Yohan Perera)

While president says about grandiose no point plans for after he is long dead, the SJB will also utter nonsesnses since their party's goal is to elect Sajith as President. They are the same as the SLPP, SLFP and UNP MPs, and want to be MPs, and they're being in parliament will only bring about more longer term corruption. If SJB wants to improve country they should ask for full freedom of expression, and not back religious persecution of commentators, instead of supporting crackdowns on comedians and pastors.

If Kiriella wants a debate he must make sure that his party members are fully present on that day. We don't want to pay for only a few opposition members in parliament.

You can debate and you all can bark as much as you can in the parliament and yet The president has his own plan to win next election and I think he will do a deal with either ADK or your part to get enough work ...it means that he will offer PM Post one of you .AKD or Sajth ..that is good for the country as well .stop fighting each other

Since Ranil came to power everything he wanted to deliver was coming in the future. Even catching thieves in the Parliament have not arrived. MPs who are thieves' cases are being withdrawn by the AG but these cases were filed by the previous AG who is now the Chief Justice.

@Jg; There is another who hang on to power, without any mandate, by preventing elections. So, he/ they is / are the power crazy. You could be one of them. @Malij ; For ta*king responsibility a mandate after elections required as not possible to work with failed who bankrupted the country by plundering with Pandora grades which is a reliable institute accepted by worldwide.
