SIS Chief claims Rs.50 mn from MP Nalin Bandara

Director of the State Intelligence Service Major General Suresh Sallay has sent a letter of demand to Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Nalin Bandara demanding Rs. 50 million as damages for allegedly making defamatory remarks on him.

The Lawyer of Major General Sallay in his Letter of Demand also stated that his client would take legal action against MP Nalin Bandara if he failed to pay the amount within two weeks. Major General Suresh Sallay stated that the allegations made against him by the Parliamentarian were false and baseless.

The Letter also stated that at least two occasions the MP had made several false allegations against Major General Sallay including that Zaharan had links with Major General Sallay.

"I am also instructed to deny your allegation that my client (Major General Sallay) has not completed the military course in India and to state that in fact, my client has completed the said military course prior to returning to Sri Lanka," the letter stated.

On March 19, Major General Sallay also lodged a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over a statement made MP Nalin Bandara.

Maj. Gen. Sallay in his complaint to the CID stated that the statements made by MP Bandara have created hatred and animosity which could pose a threat to the security of both himself and his family members.

Some fishy things. We are yet to find out if ISIS was not behind this attack who is really behind. Happened closer to an election. We really did not have any threats. This was planned and executed by who? Who is the real mastermind? Who created BBS and Thawheed and which intelligence officers had close links with them?

Interesting to watch if a cse would be filed and if the case would go to a finish or be withdrawn half way. Not one case reached an end for a Judge to pass judgement

Punish this inexperienced unscrupulous politician who undermines national security and making statements to be a cardboard hero . Just playing to the gallery will not help to gain cheap popularity. The present day generations will not get carried away and believe in what politicians say and provide proof to substantiate their statements.

Appointing a soldier as Director of the State Intelligence Service has been the biggest mistake. Running such a service requires a few more skills and knowledge than mastering killing people.
