Let maintenence of law and be with the forces, but traffic control could be efficiently implemented by the police, specially overspeeding, dangerous driving, overtaking from the left, not stopping at pedestrian crossing etc.

In his Extraordinary Gazette, of this very moment, Ranil reveals himself to be a man who "can't be certain of the love and trust of his people!" This shows once again the weakness and misjudgment of this President, who does not know the approval of the majority of Sri Lankans behind him and his politics! The reference (even threat) to deploying the army points to the personal insecurity and low persuasive powers of the President and the distrust of his own people! With any kind of coercion and pressure on the people and curtailment of their freedoms, Sri Lanka will not achieve the desired political and economic goals!

I hope the armed forces take the right path and serve the people and not an undemocratic tinpot president.

If this president can he will order the armed forces to shoot to kill innocent protestors. I hope we can get rid of this man soon for the sake of the country.

Whole country crackdown or some districts safe from it? Friday, 24 March 2023 11:53 AM
There is a long list of districts mentioned. Is the Army just doing an all wide crackdown as wanted by Ranil? Situation is sad, but public just allowing Parliament and President to do as they want for decades apon decades is what gives the Government the power do push towards this disgusting social situation.
