The Government today requested the Speaker to hand over investigations to the CID into the power outage in Parliament during the debate on the Defence Ministry and Public Security Ministry was in progress.
Chief Government Whip Minister Johnston Fernando told Parliament that steps should be taken to ensure security in Parliament.
“I learnt that the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has been handed over the management of power supply in Parliament over the years. I request the Speaker not to outsource the power management of the Parliament,” he said.
The Minister said management of power supply in Parliament should be taken over by Parliament by recruiting an engineer.
“Ensuring continuous power supply during power failures using generators should be brought under the purview of Parliament,” he said.(Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)

CID failed to arrest Ravi Karunanayake. How can you trust the CID. * Still Thajudeen’s Murderer is at large. Entire country know , who was behind it. But the CID is blind. * The main man behind the Central Bank Robbery , Ranil Wickremesinghe is still free and not only that he is being well looked after by using the Tax Payers , money.
