The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) today questioned the presence of Police Commission Chairman Chandra Fernando and member M. P. Perera at the airport to welcome former Minister Basil Rajapaksa, and wanted them sent out of the commission.

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene said new members will be appointed to the independent commissions soon.

SJB MP Nalin Bandara Jayamaha who questioned the issue said how can the Police Commission be considered an independent body any more?

“We noted the presence of Chandra Fernando and M. P. Perera at the airport to welcome Basil Rajapaksa. Police Commission is bound to be independent. Therefore, how could those members be present to welcome Basil?” he questioned.

“New members will be appointed to CC soon,” the Speaker said in response again. Meanwhile, MP S. M. Marikkar questioned how come Basil Rajapaksa was allowed to use the VIP lounge, he is not even an MP and how he was allowed to use the VIP lounge?” he questioned.

SLPP MP Jayantha Ketagoda who responded to Marikkar said the opposition MPs are disturbed by the arrival of Basil Rajapaksa.

“These MPs are disturbed and had became scared of Basil. This is why they are shouting so much,” he said. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardardana)

Those who gave the shite-sniffing wanker Basil a great reception at the airport have thus clearly shown that they are criminals themselves disqualifying themselves from public office.

The meaning of 'INDEPENDENT' has to be explained to these clowns before they are appointed to these bodies. Agree with Punchi's comment, the corrupt network is spread far and wide and touches every institution dealing with law and order.

How long do they want to pander to a ten percent man just because he has a name "Rajapakse"? This name has been the curse of Sri Lanka to have come in to this desperate financial situation where a common man has to no guarantee for the next meal. While the Rajapakse's enjoy all the benefit.

As long as the Pohotuwa buggers are in power they will take the law into their hands. They little care about the Law. So the only solution is to get rid of them by having an election soon.

Absolutely correct. Totally agree. Bankrupt morally, financially, spiritually, religiously, judicially, humanitarianly etc. Bankrupt in every sense one could imagine and the people consider it normal. Once I was very proud to be SLn. Today I am prepared to exchange my nationality with any other country as there is none below SL. SL is a total write-off.
