Operation to net people without face masks: 14 test COVID-19 positive in WP from 550 RATs

Fourteen persons have been tested positive with COVID-19 following Rapid Antigen Tests conducted randomly on 550 people who were not wearing face masks in the Western Province yesterday, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

He said a total number of 1,060 persons have been found without wearing face masks in the Western Province alone.

Another 510 among them were subject to PCR tests and results are yet to be released.

In addition, the police media spokesman said 81 persons have been arrested outside the Western Province for similar offences and failure to maintain social distancing in public. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
