While condemning the fake news circulating in social media about the reopening of schools in the country in four stages, Education Ministry Secretary Prof. Kapila Perera said there was no such announcement made by the Ministry.
He told the Daily Mirror that this is not correct to circulate such fake news item citing the Education Ministry.
"A pandemic situation is widespread in the country and it is not the time to entertain people by publishing such news," he said.
Therefore, the secretary strictly advised the public to rely only on official news published by the Education Ministry.
He further said a police complaint will be made against the unscrupulous elements that were involved in spreading such fake news on social media. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
