Opposition MP Wimal Weerawansa today said MP Mujibur Rahman, Western Province Governor Azath Salley and Minister Rishard Bathiudeen should be questioned for instigating extremism.
He told parliament that the police had not even recorded a statement from them on the matter so far.
MP Rahman, who responded to the allegation, challenged Mr. Weerawansa to prove with facts and evidence if he had instigated extremism.
MP Rahman said he had assisted police and intelligent services by providing information on extremist elements and added that he had never protected extremists.
MP Weerawansa said the government had not taken any steps to ban the said two extremist organisations operating in Sri Lanka as yet.
He said the government should take responsibility for the attack on innocent civilians without passing the buck between the President and the Prime Minister. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
