A 62-year-old Buddhist monk who allegedly abused an eleven-year-old girl, who was the daughter of his mistress, had been remanded till May 30 by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court.
Police said the monk, who lives in a temple in Moratuwa was arrested by the Mount Lavinia Child and Women’s Bureau following a complaint by the girl's father.
It was reported that the 62-year-old monk had an affair with the abused girl’s mother.
The monk had told the woman to come to a house in a luxury housing complex in Mount Lavinia along with her daughter where the girl's mother was heavily drugged. The suspect monk had then abused the daughter.
Police said the victim was threatened by her mother not to tell anyone about this incident.
However, she had informed the matter to her father and grandmother where he had then complained to the police.
The girl's mother was released on bail and the Mount Lavinia Police are conducting further investigations.

There is no better manifestation of the teachings, practices and superiority of Buddhism which we want to establish in all corners of this nation than this action. Hopefully RW will visit him with trays heaped with offerings to show his appreciation

Laws must be amended so child abuses and people aiding and abetting will not get bail until trial is over. If any appeals made until all legal proceeding are over no bail. We must protect future nation bearers at any cost.

Enlightened indeed.....why aren't the social media pundits doing videos on this...or is it only the minorities who get demonized for even the small things...
Poverty or obligation? Saturday, 20 May 2023 09:44 AM
There was a similar incident in Kurunegala. The single mother provided a situation so that the daughter will be alone at home when her paramour priest arrived. The priest requested the daughter to fondle him. The brave girl took the Shaving Razor and chopped off his Timmy, and went to Kurunegala Police with the knife. The Romeo was admitted to Kurunegala Hospital. Is this due to poverty or obligation?
