Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said the ministerial committee which studied the Presidential Commission’s report on Easter Sunday attacks will hand over its recommendations to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Monday, and action would be taken against wrongdoers soon.
The report is to be handed over, before Monday’s Cabinet meeting.
Minister Ranatunga who took questions from reporters after a meeting in Minuwangoda today said only two months had passed after the presentation of the report by the Presidential Commission that probed the serial bombings, and that the government would take necessary action with regard to wrong doers, soon.
The Committee was chaired by Irrigation Minister Chamal Rajapaksa. Ministers Johnston Fernando, Udaya Gammanpila, and Rohitha Abyegunawardane were also present.
Minister Ranatunga said, “We can never breathe life into those who perished in the attack. What is important is to deliver justice to those affected and take measures for prevention of such senseless terrorism in the future. The previous government did a lot to appease the Muslim leaders.”
