A 25-year old man was arrested after a video that circulated in social media showing an infant was drinking beer from a beer can, police said.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said the police have initiated an investigation into the widespread video footage and the Peliyagoda Police traced the suspect .
The incident took place at Nuge Road in Peliyagoda.
Accordingly, the police arrested the man for offering and allowing a 4-year-old child to drink beer from a beer cannister.
The spokesman said the suspect would be produced before the Court.
"According to the existing legal provisions in the country, if a person was found offering excisable beverage or material or tobacco substances to a person below 18 years, is an offence under the Sri Lanka law," DIG Rohana said.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
