A 53-year-old man in possession of €50,000 and attempted to smuggle the sum under the proscribed 'Undial' system, was arrested during a raid by the STF at Pepiliyana in Boralesgamuwa.
The STF said the suspect, from Punchi Borella was arrested yesterday following an intelligence alert.
The arrested man was handed over to the Kirulapone Illegal Assets Investigation Division for further inquiries.
Also on Saturday, the STF personnel arrested two suspects who were attempting to 'undiyal' US$ 47,000. (DSB)

They lost this money because the government pegged the dollar. Even today, the black market rate is higher than the dollar offered at the banks.

Yes with Kaputas gone, you should arrest these guys and get the money. Jail term and money is confisticated. Kaputas was supporting this because he could use the same channel.

Arresting a $50,000 is nothing comparing to €1.5million swindled by Namal and his friend in the Hospital scandal. Touch him first before these petty ignorable issues and showing us boru shows!

Western countries regulate but allowed Undiyal system because they know money stays in their country rather than leaving via banking system. Just arresting will not help as this system based on trust as there is no known links! Someone will phone you and ask you to collect from a location or visit home to deliver. You don’t know who they are!
