Kelaniya University student tests positive for COVID-19

A female student of Kelaniya University’s Social Sciences Faculty has been tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.

Media Director of the University of Kelaniya Senior Lecturer Wijayananda Rupasinghe said that the student’s father who is an employee of the Minuwangoda apparel factory was also tested positive for COVID-19.

He said the student’s mother and sister test negative for the virus.

He said two more female students, who had contacts with the virus-infected student, were also subjected to PCR tests.

The Kelaniya University was closed on October 4 and the student had last visited the university on September 30, he said.
