Just incredible! What a reason to take one's life ?

Our proud 2,500 year old Sinhala Buddhist culture has reduced our people to the desperation of starving animals. Nothing is going to change, here’s to the next 2,500 years of the same

This is really telling us the pathatic situation of our community and the moral decline of our community...why and how for just price dispute someone can be killed like this ..where is a common sense on this matter ..we all have disputes and disagreement yet no need to kill one another for the sake of this dispute ..what wen wrong with our community..killing people has become a norm in this country.. Paradise of the East has become a hell of the Earth..where's all those legal experts..do what Saudi does for intentional killers who plan and conspire to kill with clear motivation to kill... unintentional or accidental manslaughter can be forgiven but these type of intentional killing can't be forgiven.. I'm sorry we are destroying the good name of this country if we keep doing this kind of killing

What sort of people are living in this island? First thing to look at is that did he really come to sell jackfruit or to kill the hotel owner? Real motive?

A very tragic incident. Thus while we are negotiating with the vendors we have to be so cautious Therefore any heated arguments may end with these types of incidents. If anybody is annoyed or pissed off The end result may be tragic

Law and order zero! Sri Lanka is becoming violent and unsafe because of lack of education they are turning into pre historic behavior

    City Tuesday, 23 May 2023 11:56 AM

It's not law and order, think of the history of SL... you will find the answer. People use to kill each other for moving the fence by inches, using roadway etc... even the leaders (kings) with many wife's and their children killing eachother for the throne..

    gamini Tuesday, 23 May 2023 11:57 AM

these are the people who attend pirith and bana all the time. Tie several layers of noola on their wrist and go and kill a person for a jack fruit-hail 2500 years history

    Chris Tuesday, 23 May 2023 12:07 PM

Most of these fellows are on drugs or drunk. This is becoming worse than Mexico. Daily shootings, stabbings. Kidnappings and rapes are increasing. There is no law and order when the very people called to protect the law are murderers themselves. Assaulting person in police custody till death is murder of the first degree. What sort of country are we leaving our children?

    Jayantha Tuesday, 23 May 2023 12:19 PM

Probably the owner may have already taken the jack fruit and this guy may have come later to take payment. Probably a drug addict. It is high time to teach patience from grade one. At least allocate a period thrice a week to teach and practice. Otherwise we will have a dangerous situation out of control very soon.

Introduce Capital Punishment for Murder/Rape and Drug Dealings without delay. Execute a few and the situation will change. Law must be implemented regardless of Person/s.

Jackfruit Seller Tuesday, 23 May 2023 12:47 PM

There is also a trend for people at an advantage in society, to bargain like beggars with those whose life is sustained by what they sell. It becomes a matter of pride that they finally buy the article at a low rate. It becomes a matter of achievement, when they could have easily forked out the money due to the disadvantaged person. Yet they will not blink an eye or dare not bargain when they pay up for a perfume or a luxury item.

    Chris Tuesday, 23 May 2023 03:12 PM

You are straying away from the topic and condoning with ruthless murder. Most of these jack fruits are stolen by drug addicts. They are desperate to get the next fix that's all.

    Cherath Tuesday, 23 May 2023 02:28 PM

With so many day to day problems, it only takes the simplest of reasons for some people to burst into an uncontrollable rage. Fish mongers, meat sellers, vegetable sellers are all prone to such at just a word out of line. During a short stay in SL, a fishmonger on a bike went into hysterics when the price was asked and he kept chopping on the board violently!

    Kumara Tuesday, 23 May 2023 02:53 PM

After hearing this news tourists will flock into the country! @JackFruitSeller. There is no excuse for killing over a price bargaining.

Disappointed SL Tuesday, 23 May 2023 02:58 PM

we talk about 2500 years of history, but still worst than animals

    Raymon Tuesday, 23 May 2023 03:57 PM

Please consider the accused circumstances. He may have financial difficulties and struggling to feed his family . When someone demand lower price for his produce he may have lost his temper and resort to violence.

One instance is the bus fare from Pettah to Colpetty is Rs.37.00 when we tender Rs.40.00 we don't get the balance Rs.3.00 from the conductor nor we request from him for his repercussions. This is the situation in Sri Lanka

Min of education must arrange to teach moral science compulsory during the education cycle. Starting from the President ...a country without ethics or morality.

MyLanka is a nation where Laws crawl and Justice cringes. Only way out is total system change. No to All Powerful Presidential System, No to hybrid Achcharu Electoral System. Please think.
