The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) would work together with the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) to prevent private medical school graduates registering as doctors, JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said today.

He said that his party had decided to work together with the GMOA in fighting against South Asian Institute of Technology and Management (SAITM), when they met the medical officers’ association leaders this morning.

“We have made a decision to work together, while we will continue a dialogue to see how we could work together and counter the negative effects of the Supreme Court Ruling, which said SAITM students should be allowed to register themselves with the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) so that they can practice,” Mr. Dissanayake said. The SAITM students have a higher aggregate marking at A/L exam than majority of Medical college. so they must be good.

    Don Tuesday, 07 February 2017 09:57 AM

Their can get educated. But please let them have SLMC approval before practising on live patients. Who knows how competent they are! Let SLMC be the judge of that.

True colours of the miserable JVP is once again demonstrated without any shame! They ought to be dumped in the garbage heap! No vision and strategic thinking for the future of the country but galloping with the selfish band of GMOA, 'the weda mudalalis'!

The is not about who joins the band wagon. Is any one interested in the children who have followed the course of studies ? Do not penalise them. Penalise the wrong doers.

Mohamed Hisham Tuesday, 07 February 2017 08:41 AM

JVP and AKD are hunting for 'platforms' all the time to come into limelight. They are bad loosers !

    RDF Tuesday, 07 February 2017 05:53 AM

Nothing to team up. JVP and GMOA both are the same. Has been so for some time now.

    lion Tuesday, 07 February 2017 05:52 AM

Very bad decision of JVP. The name they have built as the crusader against corruption will be greatly tarnished for teaming up with GMOA whose actions have resulted giving untold hard ships to the poor pations of this country.

How bankrupt is JVP?Just playing for the wave... they must at least focus on making/fighting Sri Lanka's minimum wage LKR 20,000/- per month or show people (and the politicians) how to live with anything less than that. All farts no shit!

Further, current JVP leaders putting the last nail in the coffin to end up their political career. Anura, your game plan will never work. I had a developing faith on your party but not any more.

Mr. Anura, Dissanayake, most Sri Lankans thought JVP must have realized their old terrible mistakes and now coming in the wright track. Looks like it's not that, JVP is JVP. You will have no future other than keep objecting for everything and screaming in the Parliament. So sad.

Lord Wolfstein Monday, 06 February 2017 06:41 PM

I have no problem to have my treatment by a SAITM doctor. Yes, I even think they have better medical education than the doctors of government universities. While the SAITM students study hard, as they know the value of such a study, the jealous and politicized students of the government universities waste their time in protests on the streets. These students are not worth that their studies to be paid by the taxpayer.

    Dr.Watson Monday, 06 February 2017 06:36 PM

Oh! That makes it clear. Next stop the JO. The JVP has nothing constructive. Just fishing for votes. Will soon end up in the wilderness.
