Imprisoned Ranjan attends relative's funeral amidst tight security

Former parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake, who is serving a four-year prison sentence for contempt of court today attended his relative's funeral in Negombo amidst tight security.

The Prisons Department said that Ramanayake was allowed to attend the funeral following the request of Ramanayake 's relatives, who requested that the former MP be allowed to pay his last respects.

Accordingly, Ranjan Ramanayake had arrived from the Angunakolapelessa Prison in a prison bus amidst prison security.

SJB MP Harin Fernando also met Ramanayake at the funeral.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)

He should not be allowed to walk around and tarnish the image of the nation. Think of the nation. It does not look good when people are trying to spread misinformation about Sri Lanka to foreigners. This so-called actor was one of the people responsible for tarnishing the image of the country.
