Plans have been drawn to utilize alternative arrangements in the event the private sector bowsers withdraw from fuel distribution, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said.
He said fuel transportation is currently done by three parties, namely the bowsers registered under the government, those belong to filling station owners and bowsers owned by private sector.
Charges have been revised five times for bowsers owned by the private sector since July last year.
An increase of 84% was allowed in the latest revision.
They also agreed to make a few more amendments, but later rejected them.
"The charge revisions must be made, so that the state-owned enterprise does not collapse financially and fuel distribution continues unabated. The unloading of diesel began last night, and unloading two petrol and crude oil tankers will also take place in the next couple of days," the Minister said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

If private bowsers are withdrawn there is no alternative except working round the clock. You cannot distribute in drums using lorries. Be practical Mr minister

yeah, so many military vehicles filled with fuel are just idling. Good to put them in to some use for the people

The Minister and CPC keeps telling about arrival of ships bringing fuel and even show a ship at sea (for the benefit of those who have not seen a ship) but I have not been able to procure some Kerosene for the last three weeks?

This is what you say. That's why we ask the authorities to put people with knowledge and not dumb ministers.
