Venerable Ajahn Brahmawanso Thera, who was held back at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for 12 hours, said instead of having an inquiry about how he missed the flight, authorities should have an inquiry on how Sri Lanka can have a better country with more forgiveness.
"I learnt that the President has initiated an inquiry about how I missed my flight. Someone made a little mistake. It is not a big deal. So please instead of having an inquiry about how I missed my flight, instead have an inquiry how you can have a better country with more forgiveness. Allow people to make mistakes because one thing which I've noticed when you allow people to make a mistake, they're not afraid of making mistakes. They make less mistakes," the Thera said in a video.
The Thera said he never knew the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka was at the lounge that evening.
"I am a well-known monk. So, you go in the VIP lounge. I never knew the prime minister of Sri Lanka at the lounge that evening. He was going off to some big event over in Bangkok. Everything was orderly and plenty of time to wait for the flight. When it came to the boarding time, I asked if we are boarding soon. They said don't worry, everything is on schedule. By the time they took me to the gate, that is when I saw the boarding bridge was moving away from the aircraft. The plane took off. I missed my flight. Nothing to do with anything which I was doing. I just got taken out only seen the lounge. Supposed to be VIP is supposed to look after VIPs please never become a VIP. You tend to lose your board. If I had just walked out by myself no problem, but you can't exist soldiers outside,” he said.

Unlike most other Buddhist priests this guy is well educated , he has a degree in Theoretical Physics from Cambridge and taught as a Maths Teacher in London before moving to Thailand to become a monk. In the Western Countries, if you are white and abandon your own Christian religion and embrace some other faith then you are considered an OUTSIDER. That is why this monk, even though he is English , is completely unknown in his own country, England. Even in Australia where he lives, he is influential only within a small circle of Buddhists, in the country as a whole no one knows him and carries no respect at all. He has respect and recognition only in the non-white Buddhist countries like Thailand and Sri Lanka.

Yes you are right. Although people are law abiding, hard working, and achieved physical development, they still carry racist and religious bias inside them. These bias come out on daily basis when interacting with people who are not your own breed. Thank you for speaking the truth.

If Ranil hadn't tried to be so good, when in reality he isn't, then he would not have made the monk into VIP. Ranil is all politics of his party cannot get 50% voter base, and any antic to sway voter his way. Ranil is nailing more nails into the coffins of his and the SLPP political futures. More he does the more of his the the 225s utter uselessness shows through.

Its so sad that a true priest missed the flight, Its a mistake on the part of the VIP section, however, Singapore Airlines too has made a mistake. How come they did not check their flight manifest with the number of passengers boarded and those who have been given boarding pass. Its a big blunder by SIA.

It’s NOT the fault of Singapore Airlines. If a passenger has not boarded the aircraft on time, he/she is off loaded, baggage is taken off the aircraft, left at ‘lost

Generally , the Airlines make the last call. Since the monk had already checked in , they should have a missing passenger. The monk must have been on Business or First class and it is hard to miss such a passenger. So , the most logical reason was either PM or Minister delegation was allocated the monk's seat.

John Australia. The white Australians are not very religious and hardly go to church to pray to god . So how can you expect this monk to be famous in Australia where only 2.4 % of the population are Buddhists according to the Australian census taken in 2021

Venerable Arjahn Brahmawanso is well known and popuar Monk in England. He is the spiritual Director of “ Anucampa Monastery “ in England , which is headed by Venerable Canada. Venerable Ajahn Brahmawanso is very popular in Australia as well. He is the Spiritual Director of following Monasteries and few more:- 1) SANTHI Firest Mobastery in NSW. 2) Wat Buddhadhamma Monastery in NSW. 3) New Burry Monastery in Victoria. 4) Bhodinyana Monastery in Perth. 5) Dhammasara Monastery in Perth. And few more , my apology ,I can not remember the names of of those. Venerable Ajhan Brahmawando is one of the most respected monks in the world. This Thero is well educated, well travelled , well read etc,etc. Further he himself built the Monastery in Perth and did electrical wiring as well. This Thero has qualifications for those as well.
