The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has granted approval for Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to purchase power from Private Plants until Norocholai Power Plant is restored, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara said today.
He said in a twitter post that Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) will provide adequate Diesel, Naphtha and Furnace Oil to CEB to maintain power generation without extending power cuts from tomorrow as decided earlier.

Mini Hydro (over 2 MW) capacities are now fully used Very few villages will have micro hydro capacity (in the kW range). These cannot be connected to the National Grid

Dear Daily Mirror Editor, there was an article in your paper, in the last 36 hours , with the picture of the Indian Foreign Minister with the heading similar to “India exceptional with it’s neighbours”, but SHOCKINGLY THIS ARTICLE HAS GONE MISSING AND WE NEED TO KNOW HOW IT COULD HAPPEN IN A ONE OF THE MOST RESPECTED PAPERS IN SRI LANKA. IN RESPONSE TO THE ARTICLE SOME ONE HAD GIVEN THE IDENTITY OF A SRI LANKAN WORKING FOR THE INDIAN INTELLIGENCE AGAINST SRI LANKA FOR MANY YEARS.

There is lot of Hanky Panky things happening, the best way to solve all these issues hand over to a private company where they will be fully responsible to make sure there wont be power cuts what's so ever, since all organization run by any government in power are full of corruption.

All are in the game. Both the decision makers and the Private Plant Owners. The time taken for repairs may be extended.

@Sisira Article is there, just click the 'TOP STORIES' link and scroll through. India spoke against us needless at the UN HCR, and I wish for their country to break into pieces, so then we will be safe for the the big India it is now. Anyway, Indian operative would be busy trying to get Indian project approval through and the High Commissioner and deputy have photos with our President and Prime Minister already.

Please pay home rooftop solar produced arrears first. CEB didn't pay us 8 months to all units exported to us nearly Rs.150,000/-. We didn't receive even a cent from the date of solar panels installed.

Country cannot solve the power problem. For heavens sake help everyone to get solar, the only solution.

@Ram How many units you export after sundown, when most householders really depend on electricity for lights?
Go home heritage Wednesday, 28 September 2022 08:17 PM
@sam Good, all the rich man solar houses can get off the grid and leave the reliable power for the rest of us the evenings, and early ours before sunrise. Also don't come crying during rainy or cloudy days our system useless.
