A German child aged about two years was electrocuted yesterday while he was staying at a hotel in Wennappuwa with his parents.
His parents had told police that the boy had been playing on the floor while they were having dinner at the dining room and he had touched an unprotected wire lying on the floor.
Wennappuwa police are investigating. (Jude Samantha)

Safety is number one priority for home building in western countries and they probably do not aware that SL didn't care about these things! No plan, no standard, no quality, no processors, no systems, nothing Just living.

This shows the to what extent safety features are lacking in hotels in Sri Lanka!

It's not about cheaper place Prem, it is about regulation by the state. The electricians must have been certified to carry out works to avoid these kind of doggy works.

SL is a tourist destination. Authorities should regulate all such lodging places.

What is needed is consumer awareness You only get what you pay for - good things no cheap.

What kind of stupid reporting is this? No name mentioned, how can anyone now go to any hotel in Wennapuwa? DM is setting records for news which while newsworthy is seriously lack on decent content?
Hadam Thursday, 14 July 2016 07:29 PM
Awareness...? Tell us which politicians or civil servants are interested in these kind of awareness apart from robbing the country.

Shocking! the parents must be wired wrong for ignoring the child. At least alternate watching the child or direct someone to do that. the current standard of parenting is poor, they need to be more grounded. I wonder if they'll be charged with neglect?

Irresponsible comment. How would the parents know the poor electrical workmanship in the hotel? Are you saying the hotel is not at fault for having a live wire around the building? If it happened to anyone close to you, the reaction and comments would be different.
