The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) submitted a 11-point proposal to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to control current COVID-19 situation in the country.
Accordingly, they have come out with strategies like home isolation of Asymptomatic patients based on a scientific criteria, increasing PCR testing capacity, zonal lockdowns and providing necessary man power to the Epidemiology Unit.

I believe we are wasting precious resources by sending the asymptomatoc patients to quarantine facilities. Such patients should be home quarantined and followed up daily by PHIs. This way we save human resources and transport and quarantine facilities to those who really need medical care. The saved resources should be diverted to ICUs instead.

It is sad that GMOA assumes people do not understand what they try to achieve through this statement. First, they want to say, the issue is officials not with politicians. Second, they want to say that data sharing/communication is sufficient to address the issue. You people are in so called 'Task Force' so go and discuss these nonsenses there

The conditions are becoming critical due to negligence of all concerned. Some are concerned about health and some about economy. Politicians are concerned about their future but there's no coordination among all concerned has led the country into this mess. Proper urgent protective measures should be taken as soon as possible.
