According to Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) sources, the fuel price increase will take effect tomorrow.

The article published on the Daily Mirror on June 16 predicted that the fuel price revision would take place on June 24.

Accordingly, there is a possibility of increasing the price of every fuel variety by more than Rs. 60.

The power and energy ministry earlier claimed that the fuel price increase should take effect on the 24th of each month according to the dollar price in the world market.

Sources from the CPC said that plans have been made to increase the price of a litre of 92 octane petrol by Rs.74, 95 octane petrol by Rs.78, a litre of diesel by Rs.56, a litre of super diesel by Rs.65 and a litre of kerosene by Rs.210. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

Deal Gama Thursday, 23 June 2022 05:45 PM

Good news ! There won't be queues for KEROSENE as the poor people who mostly use to cook and light lamps cannot afford the new price!

    Dee Thursday, 23 June 2022 05:47 PM

Ok. Increase. Allow the scums who are hoarding to make profit and next step even pawn their vehicles and get in qué to hoard fuel again. After that for Pete's sake, get some big order - drastically drop prices without notice for a short period . Please! Otherwise you are only making the non contributing 800k plus 3 wheeler owners rich! People are buying petrol from em at 500/- even right now! Open your eyes!

Citizen Silva Thursday, 23 June 2022 09:58 PM

Excellent news, for everything there is tax on top of the import price, except fuel. Whatever the decision government takes three-wheelers come into the scene. For the country's destruction three-wheelers are to be blamed. Neither they pay tax and moreover each three-wheeler uses about $10 worth fuel a day multiplied by one million three wheels. Ten Million dollars a day. We have to diversify from that mentality to a self sufficient economy. Technically petrol should be 600 rupees a litre. Cost plus tax. You will see more people walk or cycle, we become a healthy nation.

GIA LANKA Thursday, 23 June 2022 10:25 PM

THIS INCREASE IS NOT ENOUGH, PETROL MUST BE INCREASED BY RS. 1000/- PER LITRE, DIESEL BY RS.1500/- PER LITRE. THAT WAY THE GOVERNMENT MINISTERS

Namal will go to parliament by bicycle against fuel price increase.

Drowning in Fuel Thursday, 23 June 2022 10:55 PM

What an excellent new Minister called Kanchana! When a person is drowning, what does it matter, whether the water level is one foot above the head or one meter?

    GHT Thursday, 23 June 2022 11:00 PM

Date and the day for regular revision of Fuel set for the 24th of every month, therefore, everyone can predict possible increase. Hence, it can not be accepted claiming that daily mirror itself was announcing earlier about the fuel increase. Whole media predicted the fuel hike to be effective 24th of every month.

Show your efficiency Friday, 24 June 2022 12:51 AM

This President came to power with a record majority and he must not make statements and gazette notifications only he must attend Parliament and take part in Parliament sessions and he should tell the other MPS the steps he is taking to ease the economic crisis of this country. He must answer the questions raised by the MPS. Under exceptional conditions he can take part in debates without taking cover behind PM.

India buys fuel at USD 85 from Russia and sells the same at USD 135 to us. So India is already recovering their debt costs multiple times. Very good neighbour. Our useless Aragalaya has made things worse for us. Now you know who is benefiting from.this Aragalaya.
