Death toll is rising now close down the country, all because of workers that were brought down unqurantined by our careless president

May be you are getting paid a monthly salary from a stable company and you and me are representing a little minority compared to vast majority of daily earners work/small businesses struggling to survive each day. It is up to us to protect us and loved ones by not to bring the disaster inside home. Your comment will differ if you are on their side. You can see what is happening around the world due to economic collapse even so called developed countries facing chaos.

    Tourguide Thursday, 05 November 2020 07:51 PM

Me, because now we are starving too.

Vithiya Shankar Thursday, 05 November 2020 07:08 PM

I feel things are down played by saying these patients are suffering from chronic illnesses If you are going by this almost 50 percent above 50 years are suffering from one or other illness like diabetes hypertension or some form of heart diseases. So anyone having any of these diseases cannot be taken to lighten the severity of the COVID because it gives the false reassurance to the public

Let's not blame each other. These are very difficult times to all.The need of the need of the hour is to stay put at home for another couple of days and adhere tof the safety precautions set down by the Government. Let's be supportive at this moment of time.

Health comes first, economy comes second.we don't mind stopping expensive infrastructure projects and spend it on health care and food for people and continue lockdown.

    KUM Thursday, 05 November 2020 08:11 PM

Have Patience; Do not be in a hurry to lift the 'lock-down' especially in Colombo District. I am also one of the worst affected; 70 of age; Retired without a Pension. Sole Income was from a tenant of my house since July 2002 - who is leaving owing inability to make payment; Did not accept 50% Discount or reduction Offer on Rental Amount. Furthermore, have not kept even One Cent Deposit or Key Money for last 18 years.

    SODHA Thursday, 05 November 2020 09:03 PM

People are dying in their homes (within high risk areas that is) without even knowing that they had the Virus infection. So sad........... Clearly shows how systematic our testing process is. Absolute lack of Mass Community Testing within the public.

Dubai has more than 1000 positive cases a day. Yet the country is functioning as normal. Covid will not disappear soon. So we must learn to live with it by taking precautions.

    Mutt Thursday, 05 November 2020 09:27 PM

No wonder the Govt. is planning to wash their hands with tons of soap and move to safety putting the blame on the people.

    Asanka Thursday, 05 November 2020 10:10 PM

    DEA, very well said.

    Mohanan Thursday, 05 November 2020 10:12 PM

Kidney disease was the only chronic disease. Cardiac arrest (heart attack) and lung damage are a result of Corona virus infection. They are elderly people and more vulnerable to adverse outcome.

    FF Thursday, 05 November 2020 10:42 PM

THE THE DEAD HAD CHRONIC DISEASE THEN THEY ARE NOT COVID DEATH

    ghry Thursday, 05 November 2020 11:07 PM

IF "All five victims were suffering from chronic diseases like heart attacks, lungs and kidney diseases" then who else named CORONA?

    Silva Thursday, 05 November 2020 11:36 PM

if the government close the country, thousands are complaining that they are starving and the economy collapse. If they are not closing to save the economy and give poor daily workers the possibility to earn something, the others are complaining. It is impossible to serve all. Therefore save the economy and lift lockdowns, the people have to be cautious and protect themselves.

    Ali Friday, 06 November 2020 12:01 AM

Please open the borders and start living a normal life.. COVID is all about personal hygiene and personal protection with social distance.
