Senior career diplomat Esala Weerakoon would be appointed as the Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with affect from August 1, Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera said today.

Subsequently, the current Secretary, Chitranganee Wagiswara, would assume duties as the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India, he said.
