The Health Ministry has withdrawn its decision to relax wearing masks outdoor and reversed its earlier decision with immediate effect and announced that wearing masks outdoors has been made mandatory yet again.
The fresh decision has been taken considering the large public gathering currently take place across country.
As per the new health ministry regulation, masks should be worn outdoors as done before and this directive will come to immediate effect and from today (21).
However, other measures stipulated in the Press Release dated April 18, will continue to be in force.
Speaking to Daily Mirror, Director Medical Technology Services, Dr. Anver Hamdani said the decision was initially discussed at the technical committee to give liberty to the people whether to wear the mask or not.
"However, the decision was announced in haste without proper consultation of the experts," he said.
Newly appointed Health Minister Prof. Channa Jayasuma soon after his appointment said it is no longer required wear face masks outdoors. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

How can we build confidence when this government keeps revoking its decisions overnight? All that has happened is that government has once again proved to us that it is not fit to be in government. People of course took no notice of the “no mask” policy and carried on as usual.

It is so stupid. Forcing people to wear it is not a good sign. Why then vaccinations and booster doses? No logic. Hard to save the thoughts...

de-masking happened when the protests were taking place. Now it is revoked on the basis that protests could worsen the covid situ. Just shows how decisions are taken without any knowledge or consideration.

But protestors have been ignoring it for a long time.

The decision of the new minister did not last even for 72 hours. Will this be case in every decision this man will take during next few months?
