At least 30 statements have been recorded over the death of the 16-year-old domestic aide who worked at former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen's residence, Police Spokesman SDIG Ajith Rohana said.
Meanwhile, he said investigations are underway into the bank accounts of the 60-year old broker who had brought the girl to the parliamentarian's house.
It was revealed that the said broker is maintaining an account with a bank in the Agarapathana area and investigations have revealed that some money has been credited to that account as well, the spokesman said.
The broker, the wife and father-in-law of the parliamentarian are currently being detained in connection with the death of the girl, while Bathiudeen's brother-in-law is detained for sexual abuse on the 22-year-old domestic helper who was working at the former minister's house previously.
The suspects were produced before the Judicial Medical Officer yesterday, SDIG Rohana said.
All these suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Magistrate tomorrow (26).(DSB)
