Danushka Gunathilaka maintains his innocence of all charges of sexual assault

Sri Lankan cricketer Danushka Gunathilaka who faces 4 counts of sexual assault in Australia and remains in custody has maintained his innocence of all charges, his lawyers said in a statement.

SANS Law, a Sydney-based law firm has been retained by Danushka Gunathilaka to appear on his behalf in court.

“Danushka Gunathilaka maintains his innocence of all charges. Given the early stages of proceedings, we do not wish to make any further comment and will allow for the matter to be properly ventilated before the Court,” the statement by his lawyers said.

Danushka Gunathilaka, 31, was arrested at the team's hotel in Sydney's CBD Sunday morning and charged with four counts of sexual assault.

It's alleged he raped a woman from the city's eastern suburbs the previous evening. He remains behind bars after a failed bail application earlier this week.

Why would a woman who never saw Danushka before the meeting falsely accuse him? So she cannot have any thoughts of revenge against him from earlier times. One can therefore assume that the accusations correspond to the truth. By the way: Since I don't trust Sri Lankan women, I always make sure in my company when a woman is in my office that the door is always open and if possible another person is in the office.

If you don't trust our local woman, and believe they might make up allegations against you, why can't you fathom this might be set up of Danushka for getting money after the sex act? The allegation maker could say, you give me money, otherwise it'll be rape charge against you. She could have asked for the various sex acts to better entrap him. Any time Danushka can give her much money, then she could quietly pull out of the case, saying she's settled with it, and he would be free.

Unfortunately he is not been given bail, because he's a overseas citizen to Australian,the and therefore considered a flight risk. Meaning it's possible he'll flee. If non-Australian (citizen) has his passport confiscated, he can always get another one. The Australian online articles show much about it now. Previously Australia had a gag/suppression order about the case, which Australian media also fought to overthrow.

Australian police are efficient in their duty, so, undoubtedly, the accused is a real accusee, the lawyers appeared for him doing for mere money, therefore, punish the rascal who caused a DISGRACE to fellow Sri Lankan. Australia government must give him the maximum PUNISHMENT according to the LAW.
