The COVID-19 cases have slightly increased in the ground level since the time the restrictions were relaxed, Public Health Inspectors Union claimed today.
PHIU Head Upul Rohana said people's gloomy way of behaviour had contributed to the subtle increase in the cases.
“The COVID patients detected at present are asymptomatic and this is on account of the fact that the boosted immunity generated from the COVID vaccines,” he pointed out.
However, the PHIU Head raised the importance of conducting random PCR and Antigen Tests countrywide in order to get a clearer picture of the COVID situation in the country.
Meanwhile, Deputy Director General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath said although there is a minor dip in COVID cases, they cannot be satisfied with that at all. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

On top of surviving high cost of living due to greedy businessmen and incompetent politicians, we, people have to take the blaming of these doctors and PHI also. I want to ask, "is disciplining people the main duty of these doctors and PHIs?" At least doctors are treating infected people, what has PHIs have done? They didn't even supply food for isolated houses during the peak time and people in those cases had a reason to go out freely to get their food items.

You had curfew, you had lockdown but could not ensure that people behaved properly. In short no proper controls.

A few weeks back a young man died of Covid in Dehiwela. Following this 7 people in the household were not PCR tested immediately. A notice on the gate prohibited any one from entering or leaving the premises. However for PCR tests they were instructed to go to the Kalubowila hospital. No logic.

Let me ask a simple question here....... ....were the 'people' behaving accordingly even during the so-called lockdown???? Why is it surprising that most people have a 'dont care' attitude now that most restrictions have been lifted?

I was quarantined for 21 days even though I was tested negative in the antigen test. Since we are from Batticaloa the phi has their own way of quarantining people and either the MOH or the RDHS never entertain the complains against the wrong actions of these phis.

You say more cases but people are asymptomatic bcause of the vaccine. 99% over 30 are vaccinated, those not vacinated is because of their choice, that means 99% over 30 it doesnt matter!
