A 31-year old man was killed and his wife injured when a group of individuals travelling by motorcar had assaulted them with swords at Wewala junction in Hikkadua this morning.
Police said the victims, residents of Narigama in Hikkaduwa had been running an ornamental shop in the Wewala area.
Police said the male victim had about two years ago assaulted an individual in Thiranagama area in Hikkaduwa causing him serious injuries and his killing could have been and act of revenge.
The injured woman was admitted to Karapitiya teaching hospital in Galle.
