Oh my my! Can we call for a general election to change the president?

First the clowns in yellow fancy dress and now the jokers in gowns. What a county. Corrupt from top to bottom. Reminds me of "Angulimala, and the mustard seeds".

This i why I am a Protestant Christian. Look at the wealth of the Vatican. Lord Jesus chased the merchants out of the temple.

AS A SRILANKAN CATHOLIC I WANT TO SEE THIS PRIEST TO BE STRIPED HIS HOLY ROBE.

    GHT Wednesday, 09 November 2022 10:16 PM

Lawyer fabricates the issue taking the opportunity to give the priest systematic ESCAPE, it was not true, but the PRIEST in fact CHEATED the man. So, sentence him with appropriate punishment sans any loophole for him to escape then criminal act.

Chumley Pinto Thursday, 10 November 2022 02:53 PM

The church must de-robe him. We catholics do not want such dishonest priests to give us sermons. Don't just transfer him to another parish as a cover up.

Boris Vanculenberg Wednesday, 09 November 2022 10:18 PM

Can't you all realise why you all have been priests? How can we confess for our sins! Get lost from the priesthood

Catholic priest doing a side business? This is a new level. Why do business with a "priest"? If both were trying to circumvent the system then both are wrong. Hope he gets the money back and learns his lesson not to trust a businessman in cassock.

Uniforms Casocs Robes school club or national jerseys blazers are all representations of certain authoritative respected positions in society. It can be a PHI or Customs officer or a clergy or a schoolgirl or cricketer. Our schools curriculam and sunday schools must teach the importance of doing things right when you have the priviledge and responsibility to wear such a representative garment. eg Ddanushka becomes a Sri Lankan cricketer and Warnakulasuriya becomes a Roman Catholic priest because of the status he represents.

The Bishop's house should investigate on this issue as priest are not supposed to do business like this incident.

You cannot expect anything better from the subordinates/ followers when the leader himself is corrupt and cultivate corruption in his own organization (the Colombo Dioceses). Vatican should make a serious note of this situation.

Means, Cardinal too involved in this case.

You have immense capacity Thursday, 10 November 2022 12:20 PM

We thought that this woman was hiding only Yellow robes under her skirt! Now it seems even Cossacks of Catholic priests are not exempted! What next? Thobe of Maulvi's and White Vestis of Hindu Priests? This woman really has the capacity!

    TS Thursday, 10 November 2022 02:05 PM

Last few weeks we only heard about few monks being arrested and put in remand custody, for completeness sake, it is good that a Catholic priest also has joined this week. So we can now indiscriminately say that there is a significant and growing trend of religious orders also becoming corrupt. So in the future Cardinal will not be able to use his regular slogan that "the politicians in the parliament are corrupt".

From one pious lot to another. It’s contagious, it seems. Religion has become a lucrative business and the men of clergy have become quite good at it. Luxurious villas, posh vehicles, iPhones, MacBooks and iPads, fat bank accounts, women, men (for those who swing that way) and children. They seem to be the real “kings of good times”. What a piss pot this has turned into..

    Thivanka Thursday, 10 November 2022 04:44 PM

Many talks as of Christian priests' engagement in corruption

George Will Thursday, 10 November 2022 09:44 PM

Basically buyer had a good faith in the seller. Seller had good faith in Thilini. All are screwed. Just hope they can sort it out.

    Lawry Friday, 11 November 2022 09:35 AM

Why should any one give money to a priest to buy a vehicle. Was the priest a broker. Who is the idiot who will part with 8 million based on trust. Some racket to evade customs duty?

    Terrei Friday, 11 November 2022 05:52 PM

Lastly, this is only one. There are many others who are graver. Just stripping the robe not enough if found guilty. How much cheating and murdering has taken place inside Vatican walls; Vatican bank scandle with Banko Ambrosiano and poisoning of Pope John Paul I. Church under the rule of free masons.
