Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issuing a statement on the anniversary of the end of the armed conflict in Sri Lanka, has called for Sri Lanka to pursue a meaningful accountability process
“As we mark the 11th anniversary of the end of armed conflict in Sri Lanka, my thoughts are with the victims, their families and loved ones. This is a time to reflect on the 26 years of conflict, including the last phase of the war in Mullivaikal, and the lives that were lost, and to remember those who were injured, went missing, or were displaced from their homes and communities.”
“Over the past 11 years, I have met with many Canadians, who were personally affected by this war. Their stories of incalculable loss, tremendous adversity, and continued resilience are a solemn reminder of the need to continue working toward lasting peace and reconciliation.
“Learning from the past is crucial to building for the future. I reiterate the call for Sri Lanka to pursue a meaningful accountability process. Canada continues to offer its support to the Sri Lankan government and all those working toward justice, reconciliation and inclusion, all of which underpin long-term peace and prosperity in the country.”
“Canada is made stronger by its diversity, and the many cultures and heritages that that call this country home.”

Sorry President Trudeau, we didn't want to end up like the native Canadian Indians on reservations in their own country!

Mr Trudeau leave it to SL Govt to sort it. We understand there is lot of pressure from diaspora and it's not easy for you to control the immigrants who got into Canada on the pretext of problems here. That is one side of the story but I have seen on media the difficulties the immigrants pose. When it comes to canadian elections you need their vote isn't it?

Sri Lankan army is well disciplined forces. They treated Tamils vety well during the war. There was no war crime commited by the tri forces. LTTE killed their own people. Both Mahinda and Gota ensured safe exit to the Tamils.

Mr. Trudeau, SL governments have done their best to the tamils by giving their true freedom to live happily anywhere in Sri Lanka. The problem at present for all SriLankans are the need of economic developments. Great majority of your party supporters of Tamil Canadians and you, can assist by offering your kind hearts to starting few manufacturing factories in north and east specially. It will wipe out all grievances you all are requesting all times. Tamils cannot reconcile with others easily since they are not willing to reconcile with low cast Tamils in north and eastern part of Sri Lanka. They are even does not like to share glass of water among low cast Tamils. Can you imagine this Mr.Trudeau?. Do you believe Mr Trudeau, that Our great army personnell,Buddhist priests and Sinhalese have to donate blood to Tamils in north and east since there are blood shortages at most of the times in Tamil areas. Reason is Tamils doesn't like to give life to a low cat Tamil .
