Cabinet nod to coconut oil imports

The Cabinet of Ministers has today approved a proposal to import 40,000 metric tons of coconut oil to control prices in the market.

It has also approved a proposal to reduce the Special Commodity Levy on imported coconut oil from Rs. 150 to Rs. 130 per kilogram and crude coconut/palm oil from Rs. 130 to 110 per kg.

    A coconut oil exporting country is now importing c'nut oil. I think people can still manage with what is available in the country. why is cabinet approving drain jn forex.

    We are making foreigners, middlemen and politicians rich, and preventing the growers not have a good income even after a period of low prices. It won't be surprising if we lose more of the coconut estates that will be divided up to build new homes.
