The Ceylon Teachers’ Union (CTU) yesterday requested the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID - 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) Task Force to clarify whether schools can operate, after the Task Force stated that Sri Lanka had reached level 3 in the pandemic.
He said the NOCPCO Task Force had given a clear message on its website that schools be closed under level 3.
However the Education Ministry had reopened schools on Monday (23).
Therefore, the CTU requested the NOCPCO Task Force and the Education Ministry to clear up the confusion.
They made this request at a meeting with the NOCPCO Task Force held with the participation of Health Minister Mrs Pavithra Wanniarachchi, the Chief of Defence Staff and Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva and Medical Specialist & Health Services (DGHS) Director-General Dr Asela Gunawardena.
