The Ayurvedic syrup claimed to cure COVID-19, developed by Ayurvedic practitioner Dhammika Bandara of Hettimulla, Kegalla was not officially tested at the Wathupitiwala Base Hospital, the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) said.

GMOA Editor Dr. Haritha Aluthge told the Daily Mirror that the Director of Wathupitiwala hospital confirmed that no official test was performed on the syrup.

He said clarification required to find as to what had happened during the alleged testing, and moreover, whether it was done on personal interest or not.

However, basic health practices should be followed until the results of the tests are announced he said.

He also requested the people not to rely on these types of uncertified and untested syrups claimed to be medicines. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

Why not use it if it works??? There is certainly no harm in ingredients !

How could a syrup draw the attention of the whole country in the middle of a pandemic ? Because the doctors have NOTHING to offer. Yet the doctors are judging the effectiveness of the syrup.

    Dev Sunday, 13 December 2020 12:23 PM

Twisting a statement. GMOA said it was not officially tested which is true because a doctor tested it on his own. The official test is been conducted now.

When a citizen claims to have invented something which is useful to wider society it is the responsibility of the government to conduct the test and recommend it or reject. In Sri Lanka there is no government in true sense. The underworld and drug lords have taken control of the state.

MANY PEOPLE BELIEVE IT WILL WORK. GMOA AND THE GOVT SHOULD ALLOW PEOPLE TO TAKE THEIR OWN RISK AND BE RESPONSIBLE WITHOUT CHARGING THE GOVT. ALSO TAKING THIS IS NOT GOING TO INCREASE THE POSITIVE CASES. LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE

it's syrup will be control coronavirus??, may be reducing the power of coronavirus, but permanently can't be remove from humans body's !!!!, but still haven't proof scientifically !!! Health minetry can't be approve.

    Dayan Sunday, 13 December 2020 01:20 PM

No worry. Tested by the Health Minister of Sri Lanka.

    Somaratne Sunday, 13 December 2020 02:44 PM

It has not been officially tested means it has been tested and shown positive results. Do not try to find the pedigree of the producer, whether he is a practitioner or not, If something is good for the general masses, at this eleventh hour, scientists should come forward together and quickly make arrangements to test some samples and give a ruling about the product because most mases are needed to avoid the impact of COVID pandemic.

Since its discovery in 1992, the mineral spring of Nordenau in Germany has been visited by hundreds of people from all over the world. I visited this place too. Took home a few gallons of water from this place. Well, with so much publicity there was no noticeable success to report after drinking this so called wonder healing water from Natural Springs.

    Tester Sunday, 13 December 2020 04:43 PM

It was tested at TT !!!

    Bushel Sunday, 13 December 2020 05:28 PM

Simple. Anybody can take it. No one said don't take the syrup. If it's curing public will go for it Dhammika Bandara is the only man asking for approval. Not even the General public asking for approval.

The whole thing may be a fabricated news that the syrup works misleading the public. Why not spend a few days giving the syrup to Covid-19 patients who are willing and see if there is any effect on them due to the syrup? If it works why bother to find a scientific verification?

    LankanLover Sunday, 13 December 2020 07:19 PM

Oh because they wanna sell the Pfizer vaccines maybe :) why not relying on Ayurvedha syrup though

    Ranaweera Sunday, 13 December 2020 08:24 PM

So much talk about the syrup. Are Doctors afraid that it will cure the disease. Or are they in the payroll of big pharmas who are waiting to make billions of profit.

Follow the accepted procedures before giving to the affected.
