The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) urged private property owners in the city limits who have not registered with CMC, to register their ownership before November 30 this year.
Accordingly, the CMC has issued a list of 47 owners of private properties located in the CMC.
Adhering to the above will enable us to issue a Notice of Assessment for 2022 in the name of the registered owner.
Therefore, the CMC hereby requests to co-operate to secure your ownership.
The details of the properties of all owners who have not registered up to now are included on the CMC web site (www.colombo.mc.govik)
As such, the owners can visit the website and after perusing and downloading the application, documents, and the instruction leaflet, please fill them out and after certifying those documents, submit them over to the Municipal Assessors department to have them registered.
Please note that it is mandatory to have the registration done before November 30, and in order to issue the 2022 assessment tax payment receipts in the name of the owner, please note that this registration is very important, the CMC said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

To me it looks like a land grab. There are many properties (just land) where the owners are overseas. These lands are the target. Will be acquired and sold for a song under the table. Rosy business?

They also know many owners are overseas and unable to return due to lockdown in many countries where borders are still closed. Wonder what the hurry is especially during a pandemic.

Why does the public have to undergo all this hassle because of politicians who steal other peoples properties. Some years back there was the same procedure where we had to submit documents, waste our time but up to now no results. So please do some thing sensible.

Why put the burden on the property owners. You you need information send your officers and get the info instead of putting the public to inconvenience.
