Boy’s hand cut off at the wrist, during a brawl over flying a kite

A boy from Weheragampita in Matara whose hand had been cut off at the wrist during a brawl over flying a kite was admitted today to Matara General Hospital.

Two suspects who were brothers of one family, were taken into custody by Matara police in connection with the incident.

They had assaulted the boy with a sword, separating his left hand at the wrist.

Relatives had brought the severed part of the hand soaked in ice cubes to the hospital and it was immediately dispatched to Colombo National Hospital with the injured boy.

HQI Matara Police Roshan Hettiarachchi and OIC Crime Investigation Branch Rukman Kottage are conducting further investigations.(Krishan Jeewaka Jayaruk)

What a sorry state of affairs. Cutting the hand at the wrist just over kite flying ? A few days back it was stabbing a hotel owner over a dispute re the price of a jack fruit ? What are the Mahanayakes and the thousands of those in yellow robes doing about these ghastly events?

Those guys who are blaming the majority religion should know that it has nothing to do with religion. These goons are trying to use every opportunity to express their hatred feelings towards the religion and and those who follow that religion. Brawls happen every where and people don't have emotional intelligence to control their anger and resort to violence. The religious establishments and scholls are not doing enough to develop the people from younger ages. Instead they are in the game of insulting each other, examples Jerome Pastor and Ghanasara .

An all-inclusive and rounded EDUCATION system including SPORTS is LACKING, which enables an individual to MATURE into an individual TEMPERED with PATIENCE and MUTUAL RESPECT!!!?? Displays lack of ENLIGHTENMENT, education enabled ability to interact with fellow citizens, resort to DEBATE if necessary with RESPECT towards each other, STIFLED and LACKING totally in these individuals, thus STYMIED ,which results in outpouring of emotive action NOT TEMPERED by RATIONAL thinking, which results in such CRIMINAL ACTS!?
